Meet Ali Calder…
Ali is a versatile performer with a rich career in jazz, musical theatre, and live performance. She trained in the Estill method of singing and performed at the Newcastle Jazz Festival before joining the original Australian casts of Spring Awakening and Legally Blonde. Ali toured internationally playing the iconic role of Elphaba in Wicked, appeared on ABC’s The Chaser’s War on Everything, and acted for CBS Digital in Los Angeles. She also played Monica in Friends! The Musical Parody and performed in Queer rock musical Lizzie at the Hayes Theatre Company, all while obtaining a BA in contemporary music majoring in vocal studies.
In addition to her stage and screen work, Ali writes and performs original comedy music and has just completed her first album of original songs. She performs in pop, rock, and jazz gigs around Sydney and regularly works as a session singer. She can most recently be heard as the featured vocalist for Sydney Film Festival and Sydney Fashion Week respectively.
Ali leverages her extensive experience to mentor students, offering guidance and support to help them develop their skills and navigate their own creative paths.
